Electronic Engineer

 

Osborne are currently searching for an Electronic Product Development Engineer to join an exciting and innovative organisation in Co. Sligo.

 

Responsibilities:

· Work closely with the R&D Manager, third parties and the product development team to support the successful development of new technologies

· Plan, design, develop and conduct tests on electronic and mechanical assemblies coming from third parties

· Actively contribute to the design and layout of electronic assemblies as part of the product development effort

· Modify designs as required to correct operation deficiencies/reduce production issues

· Perform calculations to establish manufacturing specifications/tolerances and communicate to relevant stakeholders

· Analyse engineering drawings, specifications and related data

· Create internal testing plans for new and existing product electronic and firmware systems

· Participate in process design, optimisation, scale up and technology transfer as applicable in the area of electrical and mechanical engineering

· Design and develop a calibration, QC and post launch product management schedule with inputs from science and mechanical engineering.

· Identify use errors and difficulties and provide expertise in evaluation of root cause analyses in both product development and on-market product troubleshooting.

· Provide technical support within the organisation in the areas of production optimisation and troubleshooting as required

 

Desired Skills/Requirements:

· A third level qualification in Engineering (BEng or MEng) in an electronic engineering/computer or embedded systems/hardware field

· 1+ years of experience (ideally within commercial product development)-- A highly competent graduate with work experience or an internship in medical diagnostic equipment would be a perfect fit

· Works well within a team, is a self-starter and maintains motivation when focused on product delivery instead of R&D

· A highly trusted individual who exercises sound independent judgement and applies problem solving and troubleshooting to generate ideas to improve products or processes

· Excellent written and oral communication skills

· A high degree of technical knowledge balanced with creative ability and a hands on approach

· A working knowledge of modern design processes and manufacturing techniques with an understanding of how to apply them during/from early stage development

· Experience working with third party vendors, contractors and collaborators is ideal

· Strong understanding of signal processing technologies

· Familiarity with operation of typical mechanical laboratory equipment, as necessary for material, component and device evaluation

· Familiarity with analytical and graphic software suites and machine/ equipment use (e.g. matlab, keyshot, board layout applications etc.)
