Project Director – Utilities

This is an exciting opportunity within the utilities sector for a strong candidate with a proven Project Management skillset at Director level that will prove relevant or transferable to this industry. The position is an 18-month full time contract and reports in to the Chief Operating Officer.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Providing leadership to an established team of people
  • Ensuring that the program delivery is on schedule and in budget 
  • Liaise with the client regularly with updates on progress
  • Build an excellent working relationship with the client
  • Ensure best in class productivity standards are maintained throughout the project 
  • Ensure that continuous process improvement is part of all roles and positions within the department
  • Budgeting and financial planning in conjunction with the CEO
  • Responsible for monthly costs in line with agreed budget
  • Monitor, measure and report on operational issues, opportunities and development plans within agreed formats and timescales
  • Ensure that the project is appropriately delegated to empower the next layer of management 
  • Ensure successful delivery of all work streams
  • Chair regular meetings to discuss progress with team members
  • Deal with ad-hoc queries of a business unit nature
  • Managing and developing direct report staff                                                                                                                   

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • 10+ years’ experience ideally with a utilities background
  • Strong Leadership skills  
  • Excellent program delivery track record for large scale projects
  • Excellent people manager, open to direction with a collaborative management style
  • Strong background and experience in commercials
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards and a diverse workplace
  • Ability to look at situations from several points of view
  • Persuasive with details and facts
  • Excellent computer skills and proficient in excel, word and outlook
