Automation Engineer:

Osborne are currently looking to find an experienced Automation Engineer to work for a global pharmaceutical company in Dublin.

Responsible for the design of any new control/automation system (PLC, DCS), automation cyber security and all administration activities. Subject Matter Expert for process control systems with extensive computerised system validation expertise. Mentor for maintenance team and link from operations to the project teams across the site.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Establish appropriate strategies for individual Process Control Systems that could impact on product Quality and business interruption.
  • Support the Engineering Maintenance function to ensure that all Process Control Systems are maintained to meet the associated operational risks in the areas of GMP Compliance, Business and EHS.
  • Ensure robust obsolescence strategy in place for site Computerised Systems /Equipment.
  • Manage miscellaneous ‘small / medium projects’, which will include; responsibility for management & co-ordination of project definition, engineering design, purchasing, installation, commissioning & qualification of equipment.
  • Be responsive to change and respond to the needs of the business as required.
  • To support Computer Systems Validation for site Computerised Systems (Commissioning, Qualification, Operation).
  • Support the reduction of Automation & Control maintenance plans via data driven equipment performance and FMEA assessment
  • Complete Quality system records within respective due dates (TrackWise, EASIDOC).
  • Subject matter expert for execution of Automation & Control tasks.
  • Complete site training requirements.
  • Completion of all documentation to Good Documentation Practices.

Ideal:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Automation & Controls or related Engineering field.
  • 5+ years’ experience required in configuring and maintaining programmable electronic systems used for process control.
  • Experience with Siemens PLC/HMI and SCADA configuration and maintenance is essential.
  • Conversant with regulatory expectations together with the latest developments and automation issues within the global pharmaceutical industry (GAMP5, FDA 21 CFR11, EU ANNEX 11).
  • Experience and involvement with successful Pre-Approval Inspection or equivalent regulatory audit involving Programmable Electronic Systems is desirable.

-Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Automation & Controls or related Engineering field.
  • 2+ years’ experience required in configuring and maintaining programmable electronic systems used for process control, preferably within a cGMP regulated environment (GAMP5, FDA 21 CFR11, EU ANNEX 11).
  • Experience with Siemens PLC/HMI and SCADA configuration and maintenance.
  • Aware of regulatory expectations together with the latest developments and automation issues within the global pharmaceutical industry (GAMP5, FDA 21 CFR11, EU ANNEX 11).
