Highways Engineer (Traffic Management)

We are currently recruiting on their behalf for a Highways Engineer to join us to continue their team. Our client is the leading service provider to the Irish highways consultancy sector as a result of a portfolio of high-profile projects with the Transport Infrastructure Ireland, Contractors and Local Authorities.


  • Undertaking Traffic Management inspections on the National Road Network
  • Assist with H&S inspections of construction sites
  • Writing technical reports as well as other reports for non-technical audiences, such as public advice notes;

Essential Criteria

  • A degree in Civil Engineering.
  • At or approaching, Chartered Engineer status.
  • Experience of highway design or construction.
  • Confident with proven interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Capable of managing a challenging workload subject to change at short notice.
  • Good IT skills.
  • Communication skills (ability to converse articulately with clients).
  • Knowledge of the financial management and control of projects.
  • Able to produce well-presented and accurate reports.
  • Previous work experience in the highways industry either for a contractor, consultant or public sector organisation.
  • Knowledge of TII Publications, DMRB or equivalent road design standards.
  • Knowledge of Traffic Signs Manual.
  • Knowledge of Irish H&S Legislation, including Construction Regulations.
  • Driver’s License.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience of construction supervision.
